Enchanted Springs Ranch – Boerne, TX (30 minutes)

Hill Country State Natural Area – Bandera, TX (15 minutes)
Tucked away in the rugged terrain southwest of Bandera, the Hill Country State Natural Area is 5369 acres of undeveloped and secluded serenity. Approximately 40 miles of multiuse trails wind up grassy valleys, cross spring-fed streams, and climb steep limestone hills. Equestrians, hikers, birders, and mountain bikers can enjoy exploring the trails. Primitive and back country camping areas are available to equestrian and non-equestrian campers.
Medina Apple Store – Medina, TX (20 minutes)

Camp Verde General Store – Camp Verde, TX (20 minutes)
Camp Verde was a United States Army post established in 1856. The camp was the headquarters for U.S. Camel Corps, which experimented with using dromedaries as pack animals. For more than 150 years Camp Verde General Store has occupied this little piece of Texas. Indulge in the rich history of this timeless gem. Lone Star Motorcycle Museum – Vanderpool, TX (45 minutes)
The museum, located near Lost Maples State Natural Area, is a must see for all motorcycle enthusiasts. The museum features British bikes and others. Ace Cafe located inside museum is open for lunch.
Scenic Drives – Area Hill Country Roads
One of the most pleasurable experiences in visiting Bandera County and the Texas Hill Country is scenic drives throughout the region. Roadways offer majestic vistas from rugged limestone hills and quiet serene paths along river valleys.
Bear Springs Blossom Nature Preserve – Pipe Creek, TX (20 minutes)
125 acre nature, birding, and wildflower nature preserve in southeast Bandera County near Pipe Creek. Guided tours on six different trails by reservation. Used by Bear Springs Blossom Nature Preservation Group.
On the Sabinal River 5 miles from Vanderpool. 30 campsites with electricity, water, shade shelters, restroom with showers. 8 designated primitive camping areas (40 sites accessible to hikers only). Day use area with picnic tables, parking, restroom. 2100 acres with 10.5 miles of trails. Best foliage after first frost at end of October or first of November. Hiking, camping, picnicking, bird watching and sight-seeing.
Town of Comfort, Comfort, TX (40 minutes)
Located between Fredericksburg, Boerne, and Kerrville, yet only minutes from San Antonio. An ideal place to stroll among the historic buildings, which now house some of the finest accommodations, shops and eateries in the Hill Country. Comfort is known for its antique shopping, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, as well as three local wineries with a wine tasting.
Old Tunnel Bat Cave – Fredricksburg, TX (1hr 15 minutes)
The abandoned railroad tunnel that gives Old Tunnel its name is home to up to three million Brazilian free-tailed bats (T. b. mexicana) and 3,000 Cave myotis (Myotis velifer) bats from May through October. During those months visitors come to watch the bats emerge from the tunnel each night at this State Park.
Kayak the Medina River – Bandera, TX (15 minutes)
Winding through tunnels of towering bald cypress trees on its way to Bandera, the Medina River doesn’t get the crowds that flock to some other rivers. You have most of it to yourself as you spend a couple of hours of bliss in a kayak rented from the Medina River Company.
Cascade Caverns – Boerne, TX (50 minutes)
Cascade Caverns was discovered by the Lipan Apache in the 1700s as evidenced by artifacts and a cave fireplace. Kendall County youth in the 1840s rediscovered the cave. The beauty of this living cavern makes it one of Texas’ finest caverns. Don’t forget your camera. Your guided 45-60 minute tour takes you through corridor after corridor of timeless beauty.
