THE GOLF COURSE IS CURRENTLY CLOSED DURING RENOVATIONS. THE DRIVING RANGE & PRACTICE GREEN ARE ALSO CLOSED UNTIL TBD.

BENT GRASS IS COMING TO FLYING L!

The Flying L Golf Course is currently undergoing a major renovation. We are rebuilding and expanding greens and tee boxes, rebuilding the irrigation system, adding sand traps, and adding a Bonus Hole. During construction the course will be CLOSED until the Grand Opening TBD. The Driving Range and Practice Green are also currently CLOSED during renovations. We appreciate your understanding and continued patronage during this much needed upgrade to this 50 year old course. Please see our Facebook page for further information and progress updates.

ABOUT THE GOLF COURSE

Nestled in the heart of the Hill Country, the Flying L Golf Club is enjoyable for players of all skill levels. Open to both the public and our guests, our award-winning championship golf course is made up of 18 holes, totaling 6,646 yards. With the majestic backdrop of the terrain, Oak trees, and rolling hills, there are beautiful views of the Hill Country at every green. Even with the beautiful Oak trees, our fairways are generous and playable. The great year-round weather makes the Flying L Golf Club a preferred destination for golfers near and far.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Golf Course Construction Update December 2023

 Completed:

  • Driving Range irrigation
  • Driving Range tee box expansion
  • Addition of Driving Range sand trap
  • Back 9 cart paths

Next Steps to Complete:

  • Build the nursery green
  • Seed the Driving Range
  • Plant all the greens by the end of December
  • Addition of new practice green by Pro Shop
  • Finish Pro Shop/Restaurant expansion and remodel
  • Pave the Pro Shop/Restaurant parking lot
  • Resurface Front 9 cart paths
  • Finish planting sod around key areas
  • Top dress fairways and tee boxes
  • Receive new fleet of GPS golf cars

Golf Course Construction Update July 2023:

Completed:

  • Completed irrigation on the back 9.
  • Completed sand traps on back 9.
  • Completed new moguls on back 9.
  • Completed sodding on back 9 except for a few small areas.
  • Completed pump house on front and back 9.
  • Completed thatch removal of fairways on back 9.
  • Completed back 9 irrigation pond including sod.
  • Completed all sod and construction around the island green.

Next Steps to Complete:

  • Expand driving range tee box
  • Driving range irrigation
  • Driving range practice sand trap
  • Plant sod on driving range
  • Build practice green by 19th hole where old cart barn was
  • Put new irrigation to new practice green
  • Pave the back 9 cart paths and area around 19th hole
  • Finish up new outside deck on 19th hole
  • Continue growing in back 9 fairways and roughs
  • Plan on planting all greens in the fall

 Golf Course Construction Update March 2023:

  • Completed green complex renovations on front and back 9.
  • Completed sand traps on front and back 9.
  • Completed irrigation on front 9.
  • Completed cart path on front 9.
  • Completed construction of island green on hole 3.
  • Completed planting of trees.
  • Completed taking out dead trees.
  • Completed expansion of the reservoir on holes 10 & 11.
  • Remodeled the tee box on hole 10.
  • Ordered 50 new Yamaha carts with GPS and range finders.
  • Completed adding new mounds to the back 9.
  • Completed widening the back 9 cart path. It just needs to be asphalted.
  • Working on finishing the irrigation on the back 9. Should be done with by the end of March.
  • We will plant all 19 greens at the same time. They will be planted in the next few months.
  • The back 9 has a lot of sod that has to be planted still.
  • The back 9 fairways will have to be grown in after irrigation is complete.
  • The practice green behind the 19th Hole still has to be built.
  • The cart barn still has the be remolded.
  • The front 9 still needs to heal.
  • The driving range irrigation still needs to be done.

Golf Course Construction Update January 2022:

  • Replacing total irrigation system to premier, state-of-the-art, smart system (Front 9 almost complete, then will start on back 9)
  • Replaced both pump stations
  • Rebuilding and expanding greens with bent grass (11 done so far, including back 9, practice green, and nursery green)
  • Built 95 sand traps with premier crushed marble including an "FL" on hole 1
  • Sodding with Tiff Sport Bermuda grass in surrounds and mounds all the way to the cart paths.
  • Added a BONUS HOLE
  • Adding an Island Green on #3 with land bridge
  • All fairways will be reconditioned and levels off
  • Refinished the parking lot
  • Purchased 50 new golf cars
  • We will be addressing the current cart path as well.
